AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy is the art of using essential oils to help the mind, body and spirit recover its balance and harmony. This makes it easier for the body to heal itself.
Essential oils are gathered from flowers, leaves and roots of various plants. They are the concentrated essence of the plant and have properties which will relax, stimulate, and rejuvenate the body and mind.
Most Aromatherapy treatments focus on using massage to let the oils enter the bloodstream. The massage is flowing and generally relaxing. Although this will vary on each client and what they require at the time. Jane uses a form of massage which incorporates various elements of Swedish, Thai and holistic massage. After your massage you are left with a deep sense of well-being which may last several days.
It is recommended that you make aromatherapy a part of your regular life style. A massage every 3 weeks can help you focus, give you a sense of self. Each time you come for a massage your body will recognise that it has a chance to fully relax and you will gain more each time to come.
Suggestion points:
-
You will need to wear old clothes, as your massage will take place with you undressed, under towels.
-
It is important to rest afterwards – remember this is your time so don't rush around straight away.
-
Drink lots of water to help flush out toxins.
-
You may, on your first visit, experience a ‘healing crisis' which may involve tears or changes in your bowel movements. These will generally last only 24 – 48 hours.

REFLEXOLOGY
The principle behind reflexology is that the body is mapped out on the feet. This enables the therapist to pin-point various areas that require work.
Imbalances will be focussed on and will help the body to balance itself out.
This treatment is ideal for those who are less mobile, as there is no turning over. It is wonderful for pregnant women, especially in the last trimester, children, older people and for people who are unused to body therapies as there is no need to undress.
It is recommended that you experience reflexology as a series of treatments over 6 weeks. That is one treatment a week for 6 weeks. Then use it as an MOT for the body with a treatment every month or so.
Especially recommended for period problems, digestive disorders, sinus problems.

REIKI
A very relaxing treatment, ideal when times of deep emotional relaxation are needed.
The treatment takes place with you fully clothed. It can be down lying down or seated. Treatment is done by the practitioner using a series of hand movements on and just over the body.
Treatment lasts forty five minutes and you are advised to make sure you can spend some time to yourself straight afterwards.
What do people feel during a treatment?
Each person experiences a Reiki treatment differently, depending on their individual needs at the time. Often people feel a deep sense of relaxation and peace during a treatment. Some may become aware of heat, tingling, pulsation or other sensations whilst others may have a physical or emotional reaction indicating that the body's healing processes are working and balance is being restored to the system
Reiki may help boost the immune system, release toxins from the body encourage good circulation and digesting, calm the mind and emotions and help bring a persons whole being back into harmony and balance.
During pregnancy it helps ease tension, relaxing the mother and greatly benefiting the unborn child.
Children usually love Reiki and often respond very quickly.
It is good for mental and emotional imbalance. Anger, grief, anxiety, depression and fear respond well to Reiki.
Reiki works well on migraines, sleeping disorders, anxiety and high blood pressure that may be stress related conditions .
Reiki supports the body's natural healing processes encouraging recovery from accidents, operations or traumatic experiences .
Reiki may relieve acute pain. Chronic, more deep-seated conditions may respond well but may need a series of consecutive treatment to get to the root of the problem.
In the case of terminal illness there may not be enough time to reverse the process of disease but Reiki may help enhance the quality of time left and bring peace and acceptance at the end of a person's life.
Our Reiki practitioners are Jane Tilton.
HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that can treat any form of illness on all levels; physical, mental and emotional. It can address the many different causes of ill-health such as toxicity, organ weaknesses, allergies, inherited tendencies and emotional factors, thus bringing about deep and lasting healing. Many people chose Homeopathy because it is not harmful, it is sensitive to individual needs, and of course, because it works.
Homeopathic Remedies originate from a huge variety of plant, animal and mineral sources. They cure by stimulating the body's natural healing energy, or vital force, to bring it back into healthy balance. They can be used simply to target specific symptoms, or to tackle chronic disease on a deeper level. The remedies can be safely used alongside prescribed medication or to gradually reduce the need for drugs such as anti-depressants, HRT and steroids. It is also an effective alternative to many drugs such as antibiotics.
A consultation takes about an hour and involves a detailed discussion of your medical condition and health history. From this information you will be given appropriate homeopathic medicines to take. Consultations are initially a month apart, but may be more or less frequent depending on your needs.

COUNSELLING

Counselling provides the opportunity to explore personal issues in a private, confidential and non-judgemental setting. This ‘talking therapy' may be used to focus on a specific difficulty or problems or may be used to develop personal growth. The counsellor meets with the ‘client' on a regular basis (usually weekly), working to help them gain a greater self-awareness of their thoughts, feelings and behaviour. The process can empower them to find ways of managing their own lives in a more effective and satisfying way.
The range of issues that counselling helps with includes:
-
Anxiety and panic attacks
-
Bereavement and loss
-
Depression
-
Difficulties with drinking, drug and medication use
-
Health
-
Life changes
-
Relationship difficulties
-
Sexuality and gender
-
Stress
-
Trauma
-
Work, unemployment and redundancy
The first session will be an opportunity for you and the counsellor to begin to get to know each other and to talk about your hopes and expectations of the counselling. If you feel comfortable with the counsellor and would like book some sessions, it is helpful to agree an initial number, say of six, and then review. It can be surprising how much can be achieved in a few sessions! However, you might decide to continue counselling so that you can work at more depth. You can discuss this together and you choose.
If you are considering counselling and would like to discuss this or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Our Counsellors are Derek Mason and
Silvia Baba Neal
Psychotherapy
If you recognize in yourself patterns of feeling, thinking and behaviour which cause you severe distress and difficulties in relationships, and if these patterns seem to go a long way back, then psychotherapy would be a more appropriate treatment of choice. These “stubborn” inflexible ways of being in the world are hard to break with positive thinking and willpower alone.
In psychotherapy we can look at:
Childhood loss and trauma
Self-aggression, self-blame
Dealing with change
Lack of assertiveness in relationships and at work
Becoming more independent and responsible
Tapping into personal creativity
Feelings of worthlessness and chronic self-doubt
Psychotherapy requires significant commitment of time (at least six months). It involves looking at the fuller picture, such as childhood experience and trauma, uncovering "lost" aspects of the Self, and reintegrating these.
We may choose to meet more than once a week, if we decide that a more sustained intensity of work is necessary, or if you are at risk of suicide, self harm or harm to others.

KINESIOLOGY
Simple things can put our bodies out of balance: A pulled muscle, not enough water, a food that aggravates the digestive, or a negative emotion. These can all build up to where the body is always out of balance and so has to compensate to avoid harming itself.
Working with the body's own intelligence the practitioner identifies what the body wants and in what order it wants to be treated. By stimulating the body's natural healing responses through massage, acupressure, nutrition, flower essences, and positive statements the body will respond. This is why Kinesiology is so beneficial in treating conditions that have remained stubborn for years.
As a therapy it provides the perfect balance between Western and Eastern therapies. It uses acupuncture meridians, homeopathy, flower essences as well as the latest nutritional developments and principle of NLP.
Your first treatment will last 1 ½ hours and treatments thereafter are 50 minutes.
Nutrition is often an important part of your well being and this will be supplied as a separate cost.
Invest in your health
Kinesiology can help you develop your full potential – emotionally, physically and mentally.
Would you like to take a fresh look at :
What you eat?
How you feel?
Are you confused by what vitamins you ‘should' take?
Why you continue in old patterns of behaviour?
How you could improve your life?
Kinesiology can help you identify what your body needs.
The programme will consist of 6 treatments at fortnightly intervals, with suggestions for 'homework'. It is the ideal way to re-introduce you to a healthy, balanced way of life.
Supplements will be charged extra but only if your body needs them.

Craniosacral Therapy
CranioSacral Therapy is attracting interest for its gentle yet effective approach, working with the body's natural capability for healing to treat a wide variety of conditions. One of the therapy's most appreciated qualities is its capacity to resolve problems experienced by mothers and their babies/children.
During Pregnancy it helps ease tension and back pain, relaxing the mother and benefiting the unborn child. It may help mothers feel more connected, in touch with their unborn babies and assist the mother to prepare for the birth process.
Babies & Toddlers
The relatively soft bones of the head become compressed by the force of the uterine contractions during birth but don't always return to an optimal position, leading to a variety of difficult conditions, which respond to CST treatment.
Older children can also benefit from this treatment. There may still be unresolved birth patterns or issues effecting your child's health and well being. Accidents, post operative or dental trauma, stress and many other factors can have wide ranging effects that may be resolved by balancing the Craniosacral system.
